Nutritionists are getting more attention now with the VID and people’s desire to boost their immune systems.  Webinars, seminars and online classes about how to stay healthy are kind of my thing now.  Last year at this time, I think I was in Vegas knocking back beers and eating footlong hotdogs.  Tonight, I am attending a meeting about optimizing nutritional health and supplements that benefit the immune system.  Looking forward to hearing about how many beers and hotdogs it takes to knock down the VID.

So far the conversation is all vitamins and nutrients.  Where’s the hotdogs and curcumin?  This room is about to get an earful on my latest study…Curcumin and maybe a curried hotdog recipe.

Curcumin is the active ingredient found in turmeric the spice giving Indian curries and other dishes their unique fragrance and yellow color.  Turmeric has been used for thousands of years as a spice and for its known medicinal properties.  To reap the benefits of curcumin you would need to eat curry with curry while dining on curry.  You could roll with a shaker of turmeric much like former first lady Hillary Clinton travels with hot sauce, but to really benefit from curcumin we need a better source.  After learning about the curcumin benefits, a supplement is the best way to get curcumin into your diet.  My turmeric shaker popped open anyway and now this keyboard has unique fragrance and yellow color.

Curcumin isn’t easily absorbed into the blood stream and gets help from a natural substance called piperine found in black pepper.  Look for a reputable supplement containing piperine and ask a trusted healthcare professional about any supplements.  Wellness practitioners, life coaches, and physicians are as diverse as the ideas they push, so do your research.  This website is about me hitting my head and learning how to spell again, so I could be making all this wellness information up.  Get as much information as you can from a reliable source.

Chronic inflammation can be the root cause for so many poor health issues.  Curcumin is a powerful anti-inflammatory that has similar effects to anti-inflammatory pharmaceuticals.  Just a short list of illnesses curcumin could help curb or treat; cancer, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, arthritis.  These conditions are associated with inflammation which reduces the body’s ability to fight infection by suppressing the immune system.

The research is ongoing, but turmeric and its nutrient curcumin is proving to be one of the most beneficial nutritional supplements available.  Curcumin is being researched for it’s potential benefits destroying corona viruses.  A study in England may have saved the European hog market when curcumin was found to destroy corona virus cells in fetal pigs.  The research is ongoing, but can I buy stock in curcumin?   Now that I’ve curbed the beers and hotdogs, I’ve got some extra curryency.

Curcumin not only acts as an antioxidant, but it increases the body’s own antioxidant enzymes.  Cell oxidation is a major cause of rapid cell aging and disease.  Slowing down cell oxidation and decreasing inflammation to slow down cells aging process should be a no brainer.  Curcumin can neutralize free radicals and inhibit their replication increasing the bodies healthy cells.  I’m still trying to find “The Free Radical’s” first album but it’s the free radical molecules in your body that have to do with oxidative stress that curcumin fights.

Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor or BDNF (as the kids say) is a growth hormone that functions in your brain.  Low BDNF levels are present after head injuries and have been linked to Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Multiple Sclerosis.  Curcumin can raise BDNF levels increasing new cell growth and inhibits cell degeneration.

The list of benefits from curcumin are fundamental and numerous.  It acts as an antidepressant with effects similar to Fluoxetine, commonly known as Prozac.  It can inhibit the molecular development of cancerous tumors and cancer cells.  Curcumin inhibits histamine release from cells giving anti-allergy benefits.

This seminar has been informative as far as the basics of optimizing the immunity benefits of supplements.  Vitamins A, C, D, E, zinc, probiotics and herbal teas all serve the immune system.  This nutritionist didn’t do a book report on curcumin over the summer like I did.  Where’s the curcumin?

Finding natural sources for immunity optimization and brain health are always best.  To get as much curcumin needed to reap the benefits we need supplementation, and that means homework and reading labels.  After having multiple TBI’s myself I know reading that fine print sucks, especially under the fluorescent lights of the store.  Some TBI survivors I know have many difficulties approaching the front door and fear what’s on the other side.  Please reach out to me via this site’s email and I can help find reputable online shopping for supplements.

Hungry?  Pot of curry anyone?  It’s never too late to make curry and its usually better day two.

It’s never too late to live the life you deserve.
